Read time estimation: 2 minutes. Chet Holmgren

Chet Holmgren is a name you’re going to want to remember. The 7-foot-1 center from Minnehaha Academy in Minneapolis has been making waves in the basketball world and is already being hailed as the next big thing.

Holmgren first started turning heads when he was just 14 years old, when he was already 6-foot-11 and had the skills to match. He’s since only gotten better, and at just 17 years old, he’s already being compared to some of the best players in the world.

Most recently, Holmgren competed in the Nike Hoop Summit, where he faced off against some of the best teenage players in the world. He more than held his own, putting up 12 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 blocks in just 20 minutes of play.

It’s not just his physical gifts that make Holmgren special, it’s his skillset. He’s an excellent shooter for a big man, with range that extends beyond the three-point line. He’s also a gifted passer and has the rare ability to see the court and make plays for others.

Holmgren is still just scratching the surface of his potential and has already received interest from some of the biggest colleges in the country. He’s expected to be a one-and-done player, meaning he’ll likely only spend one year in college before declaring for the NBA Draft.

There’s a lot of hype surrounding Holmgren, but he has the potential to be a truly special player. He has the size, the skill, and the smarts to be a star at the next level and he’s someone you’re going to want to keep an eye on in the coming years.
