In a matchup of two of the Pac-12’s top teams, the Washington State Cougars will host the Colorado Buffaloes at Martin Stadium in Pullman, Washington. Both teams come into the game with identical 6-1 records, with their only losses coming at the hands of conference leader USC. A win for either team would keep them in the hunt for a Pac-12 title, while a loss could potentially end their chances.

The Cougars have been one of the most pleasant surprises in college football this season. After going just 3-9 last year, Washington State has rebounded in a big way under first-year head coach Mike Leach. The Cougars are averaging a whopping 45.4 points per game, which ranks second in the Pac-12 and sixth in the nation. Quarterback Jeff Tuel has been a big part of the Cougars’ success, as he’s thrown for 1,874 yards and 17 touchdowns with just three interceptions. The Cougars’ offense also features a pair of 1,000-yard receivers in Marquess Wilson and Gabe Marks.

The Colorado Buffaloes have also been one of the most improved teams in the country this season. After going just 1-11 last year, Colorado has already matched its win total from last season with a 6-1 record. The Buffaloes’ lone loss came against USC, which is also the only team that Washington State has lost to. The Buffaloes are led by quarterback Tyler Hansen, who has thrown for 1,665 yards and 11 touchdowns. Running back Rodney Stewart has also been a big part of the Buffaloes’ offense, as he’s rushed for 774 yards and eight touchdowns.

This should be a great game between two of the Pac-12’s best teams. Both teams have high-powered offenses, but the Cougars may have the edge with their experience in big games. The Buffaloes have already exceeded expectations this season, but a win against the Cougars would really solidify their status as a top team in the conference.
